19th century, the larger in a high grade exotic wood veneer mimicking tortoise shell, in a sarcophagus form, hinged lid with divided and lidded interior on brass ball and claw feet (7 x 13 x 7 in.); the smaller in mahogany with brass inlaid plaque, hinged lid with divided and lidded interior, inlaid escutcheon on short ball feet (5 x 9 x 4.5 in.).

The larger with old surface having a darkened mellow patina; old tight shrinkage cracks to lid; no keys; interior lids with veneer cracks; missing glass mixing well; the smaller with later foil lining.
