Comer Jennings, Jr. was born in Eufaula, Alabama. He studied at Princeton University and the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill, before earning his BA at Emory University. After WWII, he worked for several prominent Philadelphia and New York advertising agencies. In 1960 he moved to Atlanta to work on the Coca-Cola account.

A talented artist, Jennings furthered his studies at the New School and the Art Students League of New York. He was a highly sought after society portrait artist, and also well known for his large format botanicals, still lifes, and seashells.
