Walter Thrift was born in High Point, North Carolina. He studied creative writing and journalism at the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill and the University of Virginia. He was a self-taught artists who did not turn to painting full time until 1958.

Thrift's paintings are included in the collection of The Mint Museum in Charlotte and North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh. He was featured in numerous prominent juried exhibitions, including those at the Chrysler Museum in Norfolk, Virginia and the Mint Museum in Charlotte.

Good estate condition - not examined out of the frame.
