Gloria Roberts was born in Pennsylvania. She was an alumnus of Penn State University, Maryland Institute College of Art and the Art Institute of Philadelphia. She and her family moved to Chapel Hill, North Carolina in 1991.

She had a lifelong career in the arts, as fashion illustrator, art professor, painter and sculptor. Her artwork has been exhibited in galleries around the world and has received numerous awards.
