French Silk Tricolor Flag Honoring the 4th Hussars

Late 19th century, emblazoned on one side with "AMICALE DU 4e. HUSSARDS," gold bullion on three edges with the flag pinned to the shortened remnants of a painted wooden staff.

Flag 22 x 23 in.; Staff remnant 29-1/2 in.

The 4th Hussar Regiment dates to 1783 and is still in existence. It saw extensive service during the Napoleonic Wars as light cavalry and has evolved accordingly through the ages.

Light stains as expected; the silk fracturing in spots; overall good condition.
