Igor Koutsenko was born in Crimea and trained in the Russian realist style. After establishing a successful career as an artist in Moscow, he immigrated to the United States in 1992. He first settled in Oklahoma City where he taught art at the University of Oklahoma. He moved to southern California in the late 1990s and currently maintains a studio in Fallbrook, California.
