Graham Harmon was born in New York. He was orphaned at the age of 16 and moved to Austin, Texas to live with his aunt. His most prolific and important period lasted from 1958 until 1972, where the influence of the abstract expressionists: Franz Kline, Hans Hoffman, Mark Rothko, and Robert Motherwell, is greatly evident.
