Early 20th century, cast plaster with painted finish, with incised signature to reverse. After President McKinley (American, 1843-1901) passed in 1901, San Francisco sculptor, Robert Aitken, created the original life size bronze unveiled in 1902 at the St. Helena Elementary School in St. Helena, California. Aitken also sculpted McKinley monuments for San Francisco’s Union Square and McKinley School in Berkeley.

Approximately 25 x 23 1/2 x 15 in.

According to consignor this plaster piece was deaccessioned from the deYoung Museum, formally the M. H. de Young Memorial Museum, in San Francisco, California.

A few chips to base edges, interior showing a few cracks (not visible to outside), otherwise good estate condition.
