Second half of 19th century, carved wood, polychrome painted and parcel gilt, masterfully carved sculpture depicting Clement Mary Hofbauer, the Moravian hermit, later priest and co-founder of the Redemptorist congregation, the base obverse with identifying priest name in gilt lettering, appears unsigned.

Saint Clement Mary Hofbauer undertook the reform of ecclesiastical discipline in Austria and succeeded in drawing many renowned scientists and artists to enter the Church. Hofbauer was beatified in 1888 by Pope Leo XIII.

Scattered craquelure, loss and marks to painted surfaces; some areas with later paint and gilt; scattered chips and cracking, some with repair; some loss and old insect damage to wood base.
