William Lee Hankey was a British painter and illustrator, but is best known for his luminous paintings of pastoral and harbor scenes in Normandy and Brittany.

Hankey studied at the Chester School of Art and the Royal College of Art in London. He was a member of the Royal Society of British Artists, Royal Watercolour Society, Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours, Royal Institute of Oil Painters and Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers. He exhibited 81 works at the Royal Academy, but was never elected an Academician.
