Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, André Naval learned the technique of lacquering with multiple colored varnishes from the artist Simil (Emilcar Similien). He applied this technique to build depth in his richly colored and densely composed jungle scenes.

From 1979 to 1985 he exhibited in France, Martinique, Guadeloupe, the Dominican Republic, Switzerland, and the United States.

Minor craquelure to painting; some veneer lifting and cupping to frame with associated loss. Please note that frame is in fair condition and needs to be replaced, the framing surface will continue to deteriorate and flake off.
