19th century, the larger in figured mahogany veneers with brass campaign style inlays, the interior with later red velvet writing surface, two silver plate lidded inkwells with pen tray (5.5 x 14 x 9.5 in.); the second in rosewood veneer with steel line and mother of pearl inlay, interior with a royal blue velvet writing surface with divided compartments and ink wells (4.75 x 13.75 x 9 in.).

Both refinished and with later fabric writing surface; the rosewood lid with shrinkage crack and fill; no keys; overall good usable condition.
