Robert Peterson was born in Elmhurst, Illinois and grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He lost much of hearing following a rheumatic fever as a child. Drawing became an important creative outlet for Peterson.

Peterson studied at the New Mexico School for the Deaf in Santa Fe and then Gallaudet College in Washington, D.C. He returned to Albuquerque in the late 1960s and became a full time artist. He is known as a master pastel artist, whose primary focus evolved to serene still lifes in the realist tradition presented for mindful contemplation.

Slight curl to sheet; not examined out of the frame. Overall in good estate condition.
