William DeBernardi received an M.F.A. in painting from Indiana University in Bloomington in 1981 and a B.F.A. in painting from Pennsylvania State University in 1978. He currently is an Associate Professor Emeritus in Art at Carlow University in Pittsburgh.

He has exhibited extensively regionally, nationally and internationally in various galleries, universities and museums. His work resides in private, corporate, and museum collections throughout the United States, as well as in France, Italy and Venezuela.

DeBernardi is best known for his oil paintings that are couched in observational realism. His recent work explores the commonplace, whether figures engaged in seemingly everyday activities or common objects presented in intimate observation.
