Born in Sumter, South Carolina, Faulkner received both his BFA and MFA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Solo exhibitions of his work have been mounted at such diverse locales as the Mint Museum in Charlotte, The Arts Club of Chicago, and the Gibbs Museum in Charleston. He has also been included in group shows at the Whitney Museum of American Art, the High Museum, and the Forum Exposition in Zurich.
