Charles Mott Ware rejected the ranching life into which he was born. Determined to become an artist, he earned a scholarship to study at the California School of Fine Arts. After serving in the Army during WWII, he returned to San Francisco where he specialized in mythological and fantasy paintings, as well as portraits.
