18th century, each with acanthus carved tall ears, stop fluted carved back panel, plank seat with molded edge, front stop fluted stretcher panel, straight legs, together with later custom flame stitch cushions.

Taller 45.25 x 18 x 15 in., seat heights (without cushion) 19.75 and 20.5 in.

From the Collection of a Well Traveled Gentleman, Raleigh, North Carolina

Each retains a pleasing old dark patina.

Later cushions; insect damage especially near feet (appears to be structurally sound); the taller chair with a hairline crack to the seat at the rear left corner near stile, the right two feet have been tipped half an inch; the shorter chair with chips and crack to rear feet, old but likely later trim piece to top of front carved stretcher.
