The crescent brooch in an open work scalloped design set with old European and mine cut diamonds, completed with a single pin stem with safety catch, testing 14KT. Total diamond weight approximately 4.46 total carats (I-J color, SI1-I1 clarity), the largest an old European cut diamond weighing approximately .94 carat (J color, I1 clarity).

By descent to the great granddaughter of Agnes and Elisha Pratt
The brooch was worn by Agnes Jacobus (1863-1938) on the day of her marriage to Elisha H. Pratt (1855-1900) on September 29, 1886. The wedding, held at the residence of Mrs. Thomas H. Herring of Hillside Park, Ridgefield, New Jersey, was an event written up in the society pages, according to her great granddaughter, of the
New York Times that included the following observation, "The bride wore her wedding robes, displaying in beautiful simplicity only a diamond crescent, a gift of her husband, and, as a lady observed, 'she looked indeed a queen.'"

Good estate condition; a couple of diamonds with minor chips, nicks, and abrasions visible under magnification.
