Lot Details & Additional Photographs
Oil on board, signed and inscribed at lower right, 1982, presented in a handsome frame with linen liner.

Frame dimensions 31 1/2 x 43 in.

Stephen Story was a native of Brooklyn, New York and a graduate of the Pratt Institute. In addition to his own paintings, he was a preeminent restorer whose talents were sought after by such prominent institutions as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York Historical Society and the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.

In 1976 he moved to Saranac Lake where he painted full-time. His bright and engaging landscapes illustrate the influence of Impressionists, but with a contemporary slant and traditional glazing techniques.

Good estate condition; minor rubbing to frame.
