This painting depicts the old Baity house that was near the end of Ben Johnston Road west of Hillsborough on a hill overlooking I-40/85. The Baity family sharecropped for the Ben Lloyd family who owned the property. At some point the rear section of the house was heavily damaged in a fire. The house sat vacant for years before the fire department burned it for practice.
