Tom Gilleon began his career in the art department drawing and painting technical illustrations for the Apollo space program. After the moon landing, he was hired by Disney to create illustrations and designs for EPCOT and the international Disneylands.

At the age of 50, and after moving out to Montana, Gilleon began painting fine art instead of illustrations. His contemplative romanticized views of the American West are highly sought after by collectors. In Fall 2022, the Scottsdale Museum of the West will exhibit a retrospective of the artist's work. This exhibition will then travel to the Russell Museum, Great Falls, Montana and the Booth Western Art Museum, Cartersville, Georgia. Additional, a PBS documentary, The Art of Tom Gilleon, is currently in production and slated for broadcast on national television in 2023.
