The first a ruby ambrotype, circa 1860, depicting a seated child in dress with surrounding brass frame with oval window (2 1/2 x 2 in.); a carved horn whistle (2 3/8 in.); carved and lacquered buckle, relief ivy design on a stippled ground, brass belt loops to verso (2 x 2.5 in.); a carved bone toad and hand (each 1 7/8 in.); collapsible fan with leather veneer handles (8 5/8 in. collapsed); small rectangular mother of pearl mount with engraved floral and foliate designs. (1/5 x 1 in.).

Some rubbing to leather and brass frame; label remnants and some spotting to ambrotype; small nick to buckle on interior (not visible from the front); minor surface stains to toad.
