Worked in multi-color silk threads on fine loose weave wool, the symmetrical composition with a variety of floral motifs, with verse paying homage to her parents, the maker has stitched, " While placing these colours with patience and care / I've thought how indulgent my Dear Parents are / While many poor Children must work for their Bread / I am carefully clothed instructed and fed / Then may it become my desire and prayer / To repay by my conduct their love and their care," bottom register with "Mary Ann Taylor / Aged 11 Years / 1833," all within a flowering vine border, conservation mounted and presented in a molded mahogany frame.

Purchased October 2009 from M. Finkel & Daughter, Philadelphia and accompanied by a photo copy of sales receipt.

Appears to have some loss or repair to corners; some weakness to ground; minute pin pricks; not examined out-of-frame.
