Jake McCord was a self-taught artist born and raised in Thomson, Georgia. His day job was as a groundskeeper for the city, but his free time was spent with the TV on and a painting in progress. He exhibited his completed works on his front porch, nailed to the weathered wood siding. His porch was a community treasure and is now on display in the local history museum.

McCord's work has been exhibited at the Morris Museum of Art in Augusta, Georgia, and the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Museum in Williamsburg, Virginia. In 2020/2021 Shrine Gallery in New York mounted a retrospective of McCord's paintings, re-introducing McCord to a new audience.

Good estate condition.
