Lamont 'Old Ironsides' Pry was a self-taught artist from Pennsylvania. The son of a miner, Pry had no intention of following in the footsteps of his father. His dream was to be a clown in the circus. After his circus dreams failed to materialize, Pry joined the Airforce and was injured in 1941 after his B-52 crashed on a reconnaissance mission.

In 1968, after the death of his second wife, Pry entered the Carbon County Home for the Aged in Laurytown, Pennsylvania. It was here that he began painting scenes of circuses, aircrafts, and other vignettes on poster paper and cardboard.

Paintings by Pry are in the collections of the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, DC and the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

Several scuff marks to surface; overall in good estate condition.
