Private Collection, Raleigh, North Carolina

Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, Lebduska spent several years in his parent's native Bohemia as a young boy. He returned to the United States at the age of 18 and settled in New York. He had trained as a stained glass maker, but found more success as a mural painter in the city.

Lebduska also painted in his free time. These fanciful works found a successful market in the 1930s and 1940s as collectors clambered for works by self-taught and "naive" painters. His paintings are in numerous prominent public collections, including the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, DC and the American Folk Art Museum in New York. Lebduska's paintings are enjoying a resurgence in popularity and were recently on view in a 2018 retrospective exhibition at The Mennello Museum of American Art in Orlando, Florida.
