Tasha Tudor was born to a prominent and old family in Boston, Massachusetts. Her mother was a talented portrait artist and was among the first of many to encourage Tasha's artistic talents. Her teenage years were spent in the idyllic setting of Redding, Connecticut where her mother ran an antiques shop and tea room. This experience led to a lifelong interest in the New England farming life of the 18th and 19th centuries.

Tasha Tudor illustrated her first book, Hitty's Almanac, in 1934. Over the course of her long life, she illustrated close to one hundred books. Several of her most beloved works include Corgiville Fair, The Secret Garden, and The Night Before Christmas. She was awarded Caldecott Honors for Mother Goose in 1945 and 1is One in 1957.

Some minor smudging; not examined out of the matting.
