Late 18th century, the first: a New England cherry chair with pierced shaped crest and supports, rush seat, straight leg with molded edge and inside chamfer and stretcher base (36.5 x 20.5 x 17.5 in., seat height 16.5 in.); the second: a southern mahogany side chair featuring a flat crest rail with shaped underside, triple pierced tapered back splat, molded shoe, upholstered slip seat, straight legs, stretcher base (36 x 20 x 18 in., seat height 17 in.).

The first: old but later rush seat, wear and scuffing. The second: shrinkage split to left side of back splat at top and bottom; break/cut/repair at left crest rail by stile joint; later brace board below shoe to the rear interior; later corner blocks; cut/patch/repair to right front leg at stretcher joint; later slip seat.
