Carl Sublett was born in Kentucky. He studied at Western Kentucky State College, University Study Center, Florence, Italy, and the University of Tennessee. While working as a professional illustrator, Sublett also exhibited his fine art paintings in numerous national and regional competitions. In 2002, he was honored with a solo exhibition at the Greenville County Museum of Art in Greenville, South Carolina. His paintings are in many museum collections including Cheekwood Museum and Botanical Gardens, Nashville, Tennessee; High Museum of Art, Atlanta, Georgia; Mint Museum, Charlotte, North Carolina; National Academy of Design, New York; and the Knoxville Museum of Art, Knoxville, Tennessee.
