American Turf Register and Sporting Magazine (Baltimore: J. S. Skinner, 1829 - 1843), 8vo (9 in.), Vols. I - XI September 1829 - 1840, leather bound with raised bands and gilt on spines, plus: two archival boxes of loose issues, many of which are in their original paper wraps, to include: Box #1: Vol. IV (1833), No. 8; Vol. V (1833/4), No. 1 (lacks front cover, starts with page 7) - No.12, plus Index (losses to last page); Vol. XIII (1842), No. 1- 6, 8-10, 12; Box #2: Vol. IX (1838) No. 1; Vol. X (1839), No. 1-12; Vol. XII (1841), No. 1, 2, 5, 6, 8-12; Vol. XIV (1843), No.1-3.

Each issue of the The American Turf Register contains detailed information of interest to horse breeders, buyers, riders and racers. To a lesser extent, articles of interest to hunters and anglers round out the magazine. Engraved illustrations under protective tissue and fold-out diagrams are present in each edition.

Light foxing throughout the leather bound volumes, three of which have traces on mildew on their lower page edges; leather binding is attractive and tight; loose issues with expected deterioration to wraps, but generally they are good candidates for binding as well.
