Born in New York, David Curtis Baker grew up in Boston, Massachusetts. He studied at the Massachusetts College of Art before serving in the US Navy during WWII. After the war, Baker moved to Jackson, New Hampshire. In addition to operating his own art gallery, he taught art classes. He was a prolific painter and exhibited frequently throughout his life.
