Late 19th Century Solar Enlargement of a Confederate Soldier's Armed Portrait
Lot Details & Additional Photographs
Likely taken from a war-date tintype or ambrotype, the subject wears civilian clothes with a kepi designating his membership in Company "D" of an unknown regiment, his belt plate and a musket also suggesting military service. Oddly, the musket's mounts are on the wrong side of the stock. Presented in a wooden frame with gilt over gesso liner.

Frame Dimensions 29 x 25 in.

From a private West Virginia collection

A few chips to the frame, else Very Good condition.
