Built by Townsend and Downey of New York, the Atlantic won international acclaim by setting the world speed record for an Atlantic crossing by a monohull vessel. The present Lannan model is carefully fashioned of wood and metal beneath its canvas sails; minute details on board include buckets, cleats, and two binnacles.
