Two Antique Byzantine Icons on Panel

19th century, the first in tempera with gold leaf embellishment, incised frieze border, depicting St. Zinoviya, St. Prophet Iliya (St. Elias or Elijah), and probably St. Dimitri (Demetrius of Thessaloniki), with Christ above (10 5/8 x 8 5/8 in.); the second in oil on panel, depicting a portrait bust of a saint, with image of Christ to upper left (11 7/8 x 9 in.). Both appear unsigned and retain Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania labels to verso.

Both with scattered abrasions to perimeter, having convex warp; Gilt piece with some areas of rubbing to gilt, two areas of restoration visible under UV light; the portrait with areas of paint loss and craquelure, some staining.
