David Derner received a Master of Fine Arts Degree in Sculpture from the University at Buffalo, New York. A versatile sculpture inspired by modernist sculpture and old master works, David's works often incorporate the figure with narrative themes on nature and mythology. He is adept with a variety of media, working in bronze, iron, fabricated metal, wood, stone, and other media. Bronze works are primarily cast by David himself, where he creates his own molds and pours the metal. Since 1984, David has exhibited locally in both solo and group shows, and has worked on public and private commissions including large scale statues, portrait busts, and numerous architectural commissions. For the last several years, David has been an Adjunct Professor in the Fine Arts Department at Buffalo State College.
