Richard Schmid was among the greatest contemporary American artists working in the "Grand Manner" style of classical realists. His numerous awards include the John Singer Sargent Medal for Lifetime Achievement from the American Society of Portrait Artists, National Arts for the Parks and the Salmagundi Club Medal of Honor. He has been honored with over 50 solo shows and exhibited in such prominent museums as The Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C.; The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Philadelphia; the Art Institute of Chicago; the Butler Institute of American Art, Youngstown, Ohio; and the Beijing Exhibition Center in China.

Very good estate condition; no evidence of restoration visible under UV light.
