Oleg Stavrowsky was born in Harlem, New York, the son of Russian émigrés. He created a successful career as a commercial illustrator, but was inspired to beome a fine art painter after a visit to the Cowboy Hall of Fame & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City. His many honors include exhibiting in the Charles M. Russell Museum in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, induction into its prestigious Russell Skull Society of Artists, and exhibiting in The Briscoe Western Art Museum in San Antonio, Texas.

Several small black paint flecks to ground at left of figure with overcoat; else in good estate condition.
