19th century, first a diminutive high relief oval plaque of three putti, likely carved in lava stone (fine Italian limestone), presented in a period oval brass frame (frame dimensions 4 x 3 5/8 in.); a brass continental trinket box of rectangular form with curved sides, the top with painted courting figural scene on ivory under glass, and attractive scrolling foliate and floral motif borders (1 1/2 x 4 3/4 x 3 3/4 in.).
The Collection of the late Mr. William Hulbert, Chesapeake, Virginia Painted scene with some rubbing/loss to painted areas, otherwise good condition.
