Lot 2001
Handmade Mahogany Runabout Boat and Trailer
Lot Details & Additional Photographs

A 2019 completed home project that began with a set of plans based on a Chris Craft Runabout. The builder is an accomplished model ship builder, and it resulted in a well built boat. A new 18' aluminum Load Rite trailer is included.

The 15' vessel was built using mahogany runners, and marine grade plywood with mahogany veneers applied. The plans did not call for any rails to be added to bottom of boat, which resulted in a boat difficult to steer. Two rails were added to each side of the hull, and dramatically made an improvement in steering, as seen in the video. A professional was consulted for the installation of the Mercury 50 horsepower outboard motor with electronic trim.

Less than 10 hours on motor and boat. All new gauges and wiring were used, and everything operates as expected. No bilge pump was added, owner notes that hull remains dry. My personal experience on the boat was pleasant and it planed very easily with two adults aboard and reached a 30 mph top speed.

The following condition report, while thorough, is not exhaustive. We welcome personal inspections.

Some scuffs to hull; windshields are plexiglass, and rub rails are a composite; remaining hardware is stainless steel; propellor has nicks; no other apparent concerns.
