Private Collection, Concord, North Carolina In 1862 Daniel A. Haynes enlisted as a middle-aged private in Co. "I", 11th NC Infantry, CSA. He was fortunate to survive three years of slaughter, surrendering at Appomattox Court House, Virginia in 1865.
