Third quarter 19th century, cinder alkaline glazed stoneware, ovoid with tooled spout, arched handle with high center ridge, tapered body, stamped "HR" on upper shoulder and "2".

The impressed mark is similar to the illustrated mark for Henry Ritchie on page 36 of "Two Centuries of Potters: A Catawba Valley Tradition". Henry was the son of Moses Ritchie and the older brother of Thomas Ritchie.

Spout has 1 1/2 in. area of chips; base rim chip.
