First quarter 19th century, English, serpentine sarcophagus form with tortoiseshell veneer panels, inlaid silver escutcheon and borders, opens to twin lidded compartments with mother of pearl pulls, surrounded by ivory veneer borders, raised on four turned bun feet.

5 3/4 x 6 3/4 x 4 1/4 in.

Some areas of veneer loss and cracks; areas of silver inlay loss; missing upper cartouche mount; remounting to hinges; still retains likely original remnants of tin lining. No key.
