Born in Munich in 1936, Wolgang Pogzeba's family moved to the United States in 1948, settling in Denver, Colorado. He studied engineering at the Colorado School of Mines, and later earned a B.A. in Fine Arts and a Master's degree in Education from University of Colorado. He also attended the University of Mexico in Mexico City, the Kunstakademie in Munich and the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris.
Wolfgang had his first solo exhibition at Montana Historical Society in Helena, Montana. He later moved to Taos where he became known for painting, sculpting and photographing Western-themed genre scenes and landscapes. Wolfgang tragically died in a plane accident in 1982. His works are included in various permanent collections including: Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado; Great Plains Art Museum in Lincoln, Nebraska; the University of Wyoming Art Museum in Laramie, Wyoming; among others.
