Alkaline glazed stoneware, the first is stamped "JM 2' on one handle (11 1/2 in.) (broken and repaired with fill; rim chips and hairlines across the underside; over-fired); the second is stamped "JS" with a hand inscribed "5" (rim chips; area of base broken and repaired; hairline across base; other small defects) ( 16 in.).
