Watercolor and whitening on paper, signed lower right, matted and presented under glass within a burlwood maple frame.

Roland Green was born in Rainham, Kent. His father was a taxidermist, bird watcher and naturalist, so grew up with an extensive knowledge of anatomy and plumage of birds.

He studied at the Rochester School of Art and the Regent Street Polytechnic. After serving in the London Rifle Brigade and Royal Engineers during WWII, he found patronage with Lord Desborough at the Hickling Estate. He built a home and studio on the country estate and committed to painting full time. He exhibited frequently in London and Norwich. Roland also illustrated numerous books and magazines, including the The British Bird Book.
