Catherine Martin began her art studies at the age of 10 with classically trained painters. She furthered her studies at East Carolina University and the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. After a successful career in art education and as an art director for a television studio, she turned to painting full time in 1998. Her bold, expressive works are worked quickly and confidently in the alla prima technique.
