Alexander Dzigurski was born in the Serbian region of Backa, in Austria-Hungary. He began his studies painting murals and icons for local Orthodox churches. Following the German invasion of Yugoslavia, Dzigurski and his family sought refuge in several European countries before immigrating to the United States in 1949.

Dzigurski found himself drawn to the American west and settled in California. He is best known for his luminous seascapes and ability to capture the translucence of the rolling waves. His work has been exhibited at the Belgrade Art Museum in Yugoslavia, the Ford Museum in Detroit, Michigan, and the Museum of Fine Arts - Boston.

Minor loss and chipping to frame; else in good estate condition.
