M1913 "Patton" Cavalry Saber

Serial number 6F26 with eagle head and U.S. on right side of ricasso, the serial number repeats of the other side with F F & C (maker) over 1918 date of manufacture; with canvas over wood scabbard having iron mounts. Retains a leather wrist cord.

Property Deaccessioned from Old Salem and The Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts (MESDA), Winston-Salem, North Carolina

These weapons were designed by George Patton of WWII fame when he was a mere lieutenant. They were the last sabers approved for the U.S. Cavalry.

Soiling to scabbard; a few signs of use in training; original surfaces and patina; very good condition.
