Emma MacDermott is an Irish sculptor, whose work draws from observation and impressions of a moment: "Travels in Argentina have been an inspiration, and I am fascinated by all animals but, born and bred in Ireland, horses are naturally part of my DNA. Movement is what I capture and bronze is my medium. There is no back story or weighty social comment, these are some of the moments that have become ‘impressions’ for me."
MacDermott's recent solo show "Between Times" was held at the Talos Art Gallery in Heddington village of Wiltshire, England. Using wax for smaller figures and clay for larger works, Emmas works are then cast in bronze. Emma studied at St. Martins, London. Her list of commissioned works includes the Hickstead Derby Trophy, featuring Eddie Macken and Boomerang; a life-size bronze of Sadler’s Wells for Coolmore Stud; and a life-size bronze of Caerleon with Coolmore’s Head Stallion Man, Eamonn Phelan.
