Serial number 558750, inspector's cartouche on left side of walnut stock reading SWP/1892, 32-5/8 in. round barrel with V/ P/ eagle head / P proof; fixed front sight and adjustable Buffington rear sight, marked U S / MODEL/1884 at breech and U S / SPRINGFIELD on lockplate; a script P inspector's mark is stamped in to the stock behind the trigger guard; with sliding ramrod-bayonet; the top of the butt is stamped "8 / NY / 364" with the impression highlighted in white paint. Overall length 52 in.
